Metreon Festival of Animation 2002 Pictures

This is the second year that Metreon has thrown a Festival of Animation They had some anime showings and had screenings for the Cowboy Bebop movie, Knocking on Heaven's Door. Unfortunatly, the tickets sold out before I could decide if I wanted to go or not. :(

This year I was insane enough to want to join the costume contest. I went as Zack. Eek! Well not initially anyway, I wandered around most of the day as Squall. I changed into Zack a couple hours before hand. I have to say, it's really difficult if you don't have a bathroom to yourself to get into a body suit. Eek. I put it on in the car, with Moo being my lookout for when I wasn't... you know, clothed. I put on my Squall jacket and walked from the parking structure into the Metreon itself, with my silver gloves and boots showing through. From there I hit the bathroom and finished my transformation.

Yes... I got quite a bit of attention. :> Man, I hope I'm not turning into an attention whore. ;)

Anyway, everything was cool. I got to meet a ton more people from the Cosplay.com forums and saw some neat costumes.

The costume contest went pretty well too! I got second place in the male category, woohoo! Moo got third in the women's. All and all a good first time!

I won a Hamtaro DVD and a Hamtaro Handbook as well as some plush toys of guess what? Hamtaro! Hehe. Though I did give a Hamtaro bracelet to a lovely cosplayer. See below. ;)

Ack, after sorting through all of these pictures, I've discovered I only have one pose for Zack! Need to fix that. :)

Here are some pictures from the day, check the links for more pictures taken by Al and Lionel.

Two of the first cosplayers I saw that day. Very nice costumes from Sailor Moon, Princess Fireball and Sailor Tin Nyanko. People from Cosplay.com. I missed the group photo too since I got lost getting to the Metreon. Doh!
Nice cosplayer working at the comic/anime store hosting the events. She was Mireille from Noir Saturday and a lovely catgirl on Sunday. Vash the Stampede from Trigun. Very good costume. He won 3rd place in the male catagory in the costume contest. Congrats! Schoolgirl with her b/f. Awww.. aren't they cute?
Michi! She actually didn't plan on cosplaying that day, but somehow we got her into a Squall outfit after all. Damn it, she looks better in my Squall jacket then I do... oh well... duh. :) Oh the flying fists of fury is Renee, her friend, really she is. Me endorsing the Final Fantasy games in the Playstation store. Misato from Neon Genesis Evangelion
From Inuyasha Sailor Moon of course and her friend... Urd?
Urd from Ah! My Goddess giving up her spells and going with a new toy This is Grace in a lovely school girl outfit. It's kind of funny. She came over when I won the Hamtaro set. She kept saying, "You don't want it, you don't want it." She was cute. I gave her the Hamtaro bracelet that was part of my prize package and see seemed really happy and glomped me. Life is good. :>
Zack from DOA2 (Me!) and Hideki from Chobits playing DDR. Hehe. It's actually kinda funny, since the DJ's were playing music with a different beat then the game, it was really hard to play DDR. Oh well, it seemed a lot of people found it funny. Zack (Me!) and Chris as Rayden. Chris won first place with Best Male costume and I got second place. He's a really cool guy and won a great Ranma DVD Season 3 set. Oh, the picture doesn't show it well, but he had a electro-luminescent wire as "thunder." Actually during his walk on, he actually slid across the floor as if doing Rayden's flying attack! It was great!
All of the video game fighters from the costume contest Kim Jae Hoon from Mark of the Wolves, Rock from King of Fighters and Terry Bogard from Fatal Fury You want some of this...
Hamtaro and Uhlala from Space Channel 5 Hamtaro and Urd from Ah! My Goddess Hamtaro and Zack from DOA2: Hardcore From Dr. Slump
From Escaflowne The great DJ's who were fed this time apparently. ;) They were the same sound guys at Ani-Magic 2002

So I head over to the Metreon Sunday afternoon and this is what I see. Apparently an Amtrak bus ran over a fire hydrant which gushed water all over the street. Eesh, they don't just crash trains do they?

There weren't too many cosplayers on Sunday, but there were still a few! Yay!

Link from Legend of Zelda From Card Captor Sakura Anthy from Revolutionary Girl Utena Babbit Chan! Where are you! ;)

Yay, Lionel over at Usagichan Search and Rescue was nice enough to give me the pictures he took of me that day. All of the wonderful pictures below was taken by Lionel. Thanks so much!

This is me looking bad-ass as Squall. Zack in a fighting pose. Zack playing DDR. XD That's just a really screwed up photo. :)
All of the fighters ready to get it on. All of the winners of the costume contest. That was so awesome! Urd is up front looking pouty.

Here are some links to other photos from the festival.
