Novem from Gilgamesh

Novem
Debut: Yaoi-Con 2005

Why Novem / Gilgamesh?

Well there was a few reasons. I had traveled to Tokyo to attend Comic Market (Comiket). One of the amazing group of cosplayers I saw was a group of Gilgamesh cosplayers. Although, I didn't know what they were from at the time.

One of my favorite J-Pop stars in Japan is Koda Kumi. She happens to sing the openning theme song to the Gilgamesh anime, CRAZY 4 U. So there was just so many reasons for me to watch the series. :)

Because of those two factors I was really interested in doing the costumes from Gilgamesh. They just looked really cool too. The idea of working with vinyl and getting those belt buckles and rivets seemed like a great challenge.

How did I make Novem?

From the anime and the pictures of other cosplayers, I decided to go with a mattle heavy vinyl for the outfits. So along with my friends who were joining me in the Gilgamesh project, we bought the vinyl, rivets and buckles in bulk.

The outfit itself is a modified Vietnamese Ao Dai outfit. But of course with lots of belts and buckles.

Our group hand made all of the belts that were used for the costume. It wasn't an easy task considering each of the girls (red outfits) have over 90 belts.

I can't believe how cool our costumes looked when we finally finished!
